Dental veneers are thin, custom-made ceramic or composite shells that are placed over the front surface of damaged, misaligned, or stained teeth in your smile zone. Porcelain veneers in Cape Coral, FL are an ideal option for concealing tooth flaws and creating improved smile symmetry. Veneers provide excellent strength and resilience that is comparable to natural tooth enamel. For those seeking a more affordable option, composite resin veneers can offer similar aesthetic benefits, while front teeth veneers are perfect for enhancing the most visible part of your smile.
In addition to creating brighter, whiter, and beautifully shaped teeth, dental veneers protect the surface of damaged teeth and may eliminate the need for more extensive treatments. Veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures and are often used in smile makeovers to dramatically transform patients’ appearance and confidence! When you entrust your smile to Dr. Kari Mann, she combines extensive cosmetic dentistry experience and an eye for beautiful aesthetics to design veneers in the perfect color, shape, and size for a natural-looking, radiant smile!
Virtually all patients with cosmetic problems are candidates for dental veneers if they are in good oral health. As a cosmetic dentistry treatment, veneers aren’t meant to resolve functional issues with teeth, such as a bad bite (malocclusion). Instead, they can be a great option if you have the following issues in your smile zone, or the teeth that show when you smile:
At Kari Mann Dental Studio, we offer both porcelain veneers and Lumineers and will help you decide which option better meets your beautiful smile and financial needs. Each of these options has pros and cons. Porcelain veneers are about 0.5mm, which requires tooth preparation and a local anesthetic and/or sedation to minimize sensitivity and pain, as well as placement of composite temporaries. Lumineers are digitally designed to be ultra-thin at just 0.3mm (about the thickness of a contact lens), which enables seamless application over natural teeth without the removal of tooth enamel.
Traditional veneers are longer-lasting, opaque, and better at concealing darker discoloration and major flaws. Lumineers are considered semi-permanent because they can be removed without damaging your teeth. While less expensive than porcelain, Lumineers aren’t as good an option for covering more obvious tooth flaws and generally last 10–20 years versus 20+ years for porcelain.
During the consultation process, Dr. Mann will discuss your unique cosmetic goals and recommend a customized treatment that best addresses your needs. If you’re getting porcelain veneers, your teeth are prepared for the procedure by gently removing 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel. Impressions are taken of your upper and lower teeth and sent to a specialized dental lab for veneer creation. If you’re getting porcelain veneers, Dr. Mann creates temporary composite veneers on-site to protect the surface of your teeth until permanent veneers come back from the dental lab. If you opted for Lumineers, you don’t need temporary veneers, however, two appointments are still required. Lumineers are fabricated exclusively by DenMat Lab in Lompoc, CA by technicians who specialize in crafting aesthetic dental veneers.
At your second appointment, minor adjustments can be made to porcelain veneers prior to permanently bonding them to your teeth. Next, your teeth are cleaned, and veneers are bonded with special dental cement and hardened with a blue curing light. Although veneers won’t stain like natural teeth, it’s still important to brush and floss twice a day and avoid grinding or clenching your teeth. Porcelain veneers can cause temporary mild discomfort, but when you look in the mirror and see your dazzling pearly whites reflecting back at you, you’ll immediately know you made the right decision!
